Across Pandora

Across Pandora

Green forests stretching as far as the eye can see,

Bounded on many sides by mountains high in the sky.

Rocky and grey, like any mount you can devise,

The forest climbs up and covers the rocks with vines.

Fields of Loreyu open their spiral leaf to the sky,

While Fngapsutxwll glow as the insects reach their pads.

Slowly the Anemonids turn, following invisible lines,

And the Helicoradians pull themselves into the ground.

Breathing in the pungent smell, the Pa'li drinks the nectar with his tongue,

While behind it the Thanator roams.

Stalking through the bushes the Palulukan readies a pounce,

But the Direhorse jumps to the side and runs into the trees to hide.

"Oel ngati kameie, ma tsmukan, ulte ngaru seiyi irayo." says the Taronyu to her prey,

Carrying it over her shoulders she brings it to Kelkutrel, letting the tribe do their work.

She climbs the core of Hometree, grabbing some food to eat,

While far in the forest, the hunters continue the Great Hunt.

Deep in the mountains lies the Vitrautral,

Place where all may speak with Eywa, Nawm-a Sa'nok to all who live.

As Great Mother, she ensures the balance of life,

And any who seek that balance may find it at the Tree of Souls.

"Katot taftxu oel niean nirim..." begins the weavers' song,

And two young lovers listen from above.

Coming together via their queues the two think of each other,

And through the leaves of their home comes the singing of the children below.

Soaring through the sky, an Ikran watches for prey below,

But unbeknownst to him, Torok flies above.

With a screech the Great Leonopteryx jumps into a dive,

And moments later the Banshee is carried off, food for another.

Standing tall, purple Yomioang wait for the animals to fall for their nectar,

As do the pink Tawtsngal with their pools of water.

Hanging from the canopy above, Panopyra remind the humans of their jellyfish,

And some have even fallen into the Chalice Plants.

Despite the dangers, Pandora's beauty captivates many,

The green below contrasting to blue Polyphemus above.

The giant planet orbits Alpha Centauri A, 4 light years distant,

But lush Pandora shines like a jewel, a promise of what we can have.

My Work

Well, things have progressed to the point where it's time for me to get to work. While my main blog has fallen to the wayside a bit (things have been so busy I haven't had the time to write much outside of class), my fiction writing has been long encouraged by a wonderful teacher and I needed a place to put it all. So here it is.

While I do much in the way of non-fiction still, unless it doesn't fit into my Mad Engineering line of work those items will go there.

So without further ado: The Mad Engineer's works of fiction (aka, the what-ifs, and deepest desires)!
